Wednesday in the Word

My younger kiddos and I enjoyed reading Little Pilgrim's Progress recently
and we had 'some church' : )
when we read the part where Christian is in the dungeon of the giant Despair!

He had been beaten several times and been given a poison that he could take if he wanted to end his misery or he could hold out, only to be killed in a few days.
But what he didn't realize at the time, was that he had the Key of Promise in his pocket!!!
The key that would release him was with him the whole time.
Isn't that a great analogy? How often do we get into discouraging or despairing situations and not realize we have the key to the dungeon, all we have to do is get it out and use it!
We talked about that being the time when we need to take the WORD
that we've 'hidden in our hearts' and speak it over our situations.
The promises in the Word are our Keys of Promise and they will open doors and the Truth will set us free.
Then we can leave all those things behind and get back on the "King's Way!"

I haven't read that book since I was 11, but I remember how awesome I thought it was and wise and what great analogies it had even back then. I should get a copy and read it to the kids for read aloud time.

I love this. I don't have this book but I think I am going to get it for my girls so I can read it to them.

So often we let our circumstances get in the way and completely forget about the fact that we have a way out and that is Jesus Christ.

Great Post.
