School Daze

We are back at it.
I'm happy I to say that I didn't make the same mistake as last year's first day of school which had everyone feeling like they just might throw up. -I fed them monkey bread for breakfast to celebrate and then made us all go jog for p.e. about a whopping 10 min. later!
I had a schedule to keep. LOL!!!

I had two of my kiddos wondering if I was going to be "nicer tomorrow" so I guess I was a rather uptight homeschooling mom, but I've done better as the week has progressed. ; )

My high school students and I aren't big fans of Apologia Science, but I can say that I do like their middle school curriculum: Exploring Creation through Physical Science. And we are still working our way through History of Us.

Nathan is doing 3 of his courses with Switched on Schoolhouse. I won't tell you what home school company accidentally sent us a blank disk and how much trouble that caused as we couldn't for the life of us install it.....for 3 days.
UGH!!!!

We've started a homework time in the evenings, which is new for us but math seems to require it especially for our high school students.

During our homework time, Andrew got some math help from dad. I guess he loved that because I heard him from the other room saying "I'm tired of being taught by a woman." This had me ROTFLOL! : )

Zac seems to have caught his second wind for his senior year. He is getting up at 5:00 (he must take after his dad) and is starting school at 5:30 am everyday. He likes getting done earlier in the day and having more free time. He amazes me and will make a great college student.

I found Joy still up at 11:00 PM and doing the next day's school work a couple times. She says she thinks better at night. (she takes after her mom) : )

Still liking Rosetta Stone and next year it will be used by kiddo #3 making it seem well worth the gazillion dollars we paid for it. lol

I decided a long time ago to make P.E. something I do with my kiddos...And I've recently decided that if we have to get all worn out and sweaty in the FL heat, then tennis is the WAY TO GO! It is way more fun than jogging ever was. A certain somebody beat me on Friday which he said was a first, and made him very happy.

My dad and I got a kick out of this sign at Sea World last week....

After giving it some thought,
I decided to keep the kids I have!
LOL!!!!
Because they are pretty amazing and I'm crazy about them! : )

Home again!

Dear Florida,

You are so very hot and humid! But flying home into one of your sunsets was awesome!

Off to Cali

I've been cooking for my hubby. He believes he needs to have two different kinds of enchilladas to keep him alive while I am gone. : ) He's so cute!

What is really on his mind now, is laundry. He wants to know how it will magically go from the dirty hamper to his dresser drawers like it always does while I'm away...Hmmmm!-I suggested a laundry fairy might help! : )

I have a few more things to do and then it is off to bed. We have to get up for our flight at 4:15 AM. (ouch!)

Can't wait to see all my California Loved Ones!
Be back in a week!

Fine Arts Nat'ls

Zac is back! : )

His Fine Arts human video received an 'Excellent' rating at Nationals! Yay!
There were 50 teens from our church that made it. Our vocal ensemble group placed 2nd in the nation! Hooray!

It sounds like it was an amazing week. While not competing, they enjoyed the mall, ate at the GM building, went to Motown, had fun at the 'beach' and were "practically in Canada!" And he missed my cooking. (how sweet is that?!)

Time for lots of laundry

so that he can repack it all for San Diego!!!!

An end of an era

When your youngest child has lost two molars in three weeks, you realize your days as the tooth fairy are coming to an end! I'm glad he humors me and still plays along. It is probably a good thing I'm about to retire because I seem to be a rather forgetful tooth fairy....
(which costs more) ; )

San Diego here we come!

In less than a week, I won't have to eat rolled tacos from the frozen food section of the grocery store anymore!
I'll be in San Diego eating the REAL thing! (insert cheering taste buds here!)
Hooray!
But the best part will be spending time with my family and my friends! : )
Can't wait!

One tired Drama Mama!

So, Zac and his Fine Arts group headed to Detroit at 5:00 am this morning. There were 50 kids, 6 adults for 20 hours of traveling on a charter bus. (some of the leaders chose to fly!) ; )

My sweet hubby was the one who got up at 3:30 AM with Zac this morning, made him coffee and drove him to the church. He does mornings really well!
So, don't ask me why I could hardly sleep a wink all night and am totally exhausted today...
I guess it was all the excitement! Or maybe my week is just catching up with me. Anyway, my hubby and I are both so tired today.

I remembered at midnight that it was going to be the first Sunday of the month and my turn in the baby nursery this morning.
I'm happy to say that the Lord ordered the perfect day for me to serve! : )
For the longest time, the only baby brought in was this cute little cuddle-bug. She laid her head on my shoulder the minute I held her and a certain rocking chair worked it's magic on us both...(well, almost on me) My other nursery teen/helper crashed out in another rocker as well. It was pretty funny. Another sleepy little girl came in eventually and relaxed in Joy's arms in another magic rocker.
-Let me tell you, the nursery is NOT usually like this.
When it was time for Joy and I to head in to the worship service, there were 5 wide awake little ones and the place was hopping. : ) The Lord had mercy on this tired Drama Mama!

Hoping Zac has a wonderful time at Nationals!!! It is an experience like no other!
I'll post how his team does when I hear.
