I'm being reminded in different ways lately, that God is FOR me.
"Then my enemies will turn back, I know, because GOD IS FOR ME.
In God I have put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
Psalm 56:9
"And having chosen them, He called them to come to Him. And having called them, He gave them right standing with Himself. And having given them right standing, He gave them His glory. What shall we say about such wonderful things as these?
Since GOD IS FOR US, who can ever be against us?"
Romans 8:30-33
May that good news sink in today!

"Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine in the very heart of your house, your children like olive plants all around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord." Psalm 128:3
"Your greatest contribution to the Kingdom of God may not be something you do, but someone you raise." ~Andy Stanley

Ramblings
Y'all!
I found out that BUG SPRAY cleans cloudy headlights!
And I've been way too excited about this fact and accidentally inhaled a large amount of bug spray yesterday while cleaning mine and my kids' cars! It works so well!!!
I thought bug spray might become my Windex (My Big Fat Greek Wedding)
but it didn't do magical things on the other surface I tried. Be aware that you have to spray it on a rag first because if you get any on your car, it will eat away at the paint. That is a lovely piece of info that I was so thankful to know beforehand!
I've been working on a database at work that has lots of children's names in it and sometimes I just have to remark out LOUD and say things like "What were those parents thinking?" And "Who would name their child that?!" Seriously, someone named their child "Serious."
Serious is 9. Bless their hearts.
Or there's Sincere, which is kind of sweet the more I think about it. -As long as you don't shorten it an call her 'Sin.' ; )
I don't know what to think about the name Real, though.
Or these spellings: Liburty and Azaleya
(Yikes! Why not just spell those the real way!)
Jhordyn spelled like this is just annoying.
I kind of think the kid named Ninja probably doesn't mind though. LOL
I hear that we may have a hurricane this week. My kids can't think of hurricanes without thinking of The Lord of the Rings. The one and only time we felt the need to board up our windows, we watched LOTR movies in the only house on the street with power. Whoo-hoo!
And the hurricane changed directions PTL! I am not one to remember the names, so I can't tell you which one this was. But I do remember that the kids got to help Dad make a treehouse with all the plywood and that was awesome! -What a blessing that my only hurricane memories are happy ones!

The forgotten card that I will never forget
This time last year, my Hubby was working and taking his laptop with him everyday. Until this exact week, when I had to take him to the ER and we found out that his right lung was filled with fliud. After that his laptop stayed at home and we got very busy fighting cancer for a second time...
When we were about to start school last week, Andrew opened the laptop case and took out all the work-related papers inside it there was a card!
A card that my Hubby bought for me but never had a chance to give me.
I'm sure he forgot it was in there.
Oh my goodness!
It was beautiful and it wrecked me! -In a good way!
It was like receiving a gift from him after all these months!
Amazing!

This and that
So, I am up to my eyeballs in technical difficulties at our house at this moment, so I'm blogging on my tablet from Zac's house. Please forgive any typos.
-One of my techie kids recently told me they would rather live without running water and electricity than be without Internet. -Definitely one of our male offspring. ;) Lol
Due to a huge thunderstorm today, our house is without power at the moment.
We have been all about the Olympics at our house these days. How fun were the swimming and gymnastics?!
We had a little opening ceremonies party and then Tuesday night we are had another little get together over pizza to watch track and field along with gymnastics. Andrew is our go-to-guy for all the Olympic stats. He knows them all. I love how much he loves them. We may have withdrawals after tomorrow.
My temporary job was extended for a few more weeks and I'm enjoying it. I get to work with a sweet bunch of people!
In the last month I've learned a bit about how to juggle all the duties of home life while being gone all day, five days a week. And because school started this week, I'm going to learn how to add the responsibilities of homeschooling to the mix. Help me Jesus! :-)
My baby is a senior this year, making this my 20th year of homeschooling!
And that is why I've never worked outside my home before now. I hope I always remember how important and meaningful those years were. I wouldn't trade them for anything.
~Some epic celebratation is still going to be in order at the end of the school year even if my Hubby can no longer take me on a cruise! :)
Andrew is able to come with me to work a couple of days a week and do his school work there, which is nice. This also means he gets to hangout with some really cool people that he likes on his breaks.
I just finished reading Life Is... by Judah Smith and it was so good!!! I highly recommend it.
Now I am reading Mrs. Kennedy and Me written by her Secret Service Agent. It has been very enjoyable but I obviously haven't reached the sad part yet...
That's about all the random happenings going on here.
So here's hoping we get our computer probs worked out this week so that I can be a more frequent blogger in the future.

A painting party
This weekend it was all hands on deck at our house to paint Andrew's bedroom. It is a pretty large room that we added-on years ago, for all three boys to share and it certainly needed some paint!
My hubby was a painter and he worked for an incredible building company painting GORGEOUS high end custom homes. All that to say, we all know how to paint in this family. LOL
Two of the kids are good at rolling and a couple are great at cutting-in. And Joy is the best at washing brushes, which is my least favorite job. Cutting-in is fun to me.
Hubby's little crew bartered for music lessons when the kids were young. We also bartered for a gazillion antique bricks once and made a patio.
We've used the skill for gobs of ministry and of course, we all pitched in to do our own house after we added on. (which it could use again!)
One thing I never had to do was buy the paint, so I was clueless at Home Depot this weekend trying too figure out what finish to get.
I chose an eggshell. The only reason being, I remember him saying that word a lot. LOL
We had fun working together and reminiscing while we worked. (once of us isn't fond of painting due a spill of 5 gallons of paint inside someone's home when they were little). As usual, our dog got herself painted.
I did end up getting pretty choked up while buying the ceiling paint! This made one of my kids remind me that 'it's only paint, Mom.'
True!
But I dont think painting isn't just painting to us. :)

Flowers
In our home, fresh flowers were just for special occassions until my
brother-in-law came to live with us and changed my mind about them.
πΌπΈπΌπΈπΌ
My hubby's brother had a stroke while skiing when he was 50, and we used to take turns (with their other brother) taking care of him in our home for 4 months at a time.
At one point, my hubby made a suggestion that he try to think of some little way of thanking me for all that I was doing to help him...
And he chose flowers.
Not just once
but every single week!
To him they weren't just for special occasions. In his pre-stroke life he was always buying flowers. He believed a kitchen table should always have fresh flowers on it. It was very sweet.
Desite the painful things that happened, those flowers always brightened up our home.
After one of his stays with us, we found out that my hubby was battling cancer and that is when I gave myself a whopping $4 budget and continued buying flowers every week. :)
I realized how much I needed something bright and happy.
And I still buy them ...

And literally, just as I was writing this, a sweet friend came by with a dozen orange roses and said that she felt I needed them today!
How amazing is that?!
The Lord knows I have a thing for flowers!!!

Having technical difficulties
Hope to be back soon. For some reason we can't get online on our home computers and I haven't figured out how to blog from my phone.
And when your teenager can't figure them out your technical difficulties , you know you are in trouble. LOL

Wednesdays in the Word
This verse has been my theme lately and when I forget about it, the Lord brings it back to mind. I hope it blesses someone else! π
"In the day when I cried out, You answered me, and made me bold wth strength in my soul." -Psalm 138:3
